Wilson's / Sutton Grammar / Wallington County: Second Stage Practice

Second Stage Entrance Examination Practice

Wilson's School, Sutton Grammar School and Wallington County Grammar School share one Second Stage Entrance Examination (SSEE): a boy who passes the Selective Eligibility Test sits this ONE second-stage sitting, not a separate one per school. It is a different exam entirely from Stage 1. It is not multiple choice, it is based on Key Stage 2 content, and it has two papers: a standard written Maths paper of multi-step word problems, and a single extended piece of English writing responding to a given text. There is no pass/fail readiness band here, because a self-assessed mark isn't comparable across sittings the way an auto-marked Stage 1 score is.

Candidate Details

We ask for birth month and year (not a full date of birth) because the real test is age-standardised, so results are only meaningful when compared with children of the same age in months.

  1. 01Paper 1 (Mathematics): 5 open-answer problems, worked and self-marked.
  2. 02Paper 2 (English): 1 extended piece of writing responding to a given text.
  3. 03Each paper is timed, based on the suggested time per question. Once started, it cannot be paused.
  4. 04After both papers, you'll see a model answer and mark scheme for each question and enter your own marks. There is no auto-marked score.

You'll be asked to sign in first. That's what keeps your child's answers private and available on your other devices.
