Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning Practice: Burntwood School

A practice sitting styled on the Wandsworth Test: the shared Year 6 admissions test used by Burntwood, Graveney, Chestnut Grove Academy and Ashcroft Technology Academy. Two timed GL Assessment papers (Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning), used for fair-banding entry. No Maths or English paper: this is a reasoning test, not a curriculum test.

An honest note on repeats. This test's question bank is still small: Verbal Reasoning has 96 questions, and each paper uses 80; Non-Verbal Reasoning has 83 questions, and each paper uses 75. A second sitting will repeat some questions. We give your child the ones they haven't seen first.

Candidate Details

We ask for birth month and year (not a full date of birth) because the real test is age-standardised, so results are only meaningful when compared with children of the same age in months.

  1. 01Paper 1 (Verbal Reasoning): 80 questions, 50 minutes, multiple choice.
  2. 02Paper 2 (Non-Verbal Reasoning): 75 questions, 39 minutes, multiple choice with diagrams, in 4 separately timed sections.
  3. 03Each paper is timed strictly and cannot be paused once started.
  4. 04Full marking and topic-by-topic feedback follows once every paper is complete.

You'll be asked to sign in first. That's what keeps your child's results private and available on your other devices.

Unofficial practice resource inspired by publicly available information about the Wandsworth Test (Wandsworth Borough Council's own published structure: a Non-Verbal Reasoning paper of 75 questions in 55 minutes across four timed sections, and a Verbal Reasoning paper of 80 questions in 50 minutes, both from GL Assessment). Not affiliated with or endorsed by Burntwood School, Wandsworth Borough Council or GL Assessment. This is a BANDING test, not a pass/fail exam: the band a child is placed in does not determine whether she is offered a place, and GL Assessment sets each year's band thresholds from that year's whole applicant cohort, which no practice resource can predict in advance.
