GL Assessment Banding Practice

Reasoning Practice: The Camden School for Girls

A practice sitting styled on Camden School for Girls’ Year 7 banding assessment: four GL Assessment reasoning papers (Verbal, Non-Verbal, Quantitative and Spatial Reasoning), normally sat together in one half-day session. No Maths or English paper: this is a cognitive-ability test, not a curriculum test, and Camden’s own FAQ states plainly that the band a child is placed in "has no bearing" on her likelihood of an offer.

An honest note on repeats. This test's question bank is still small: Verbal Reasoning has 32 questions, and each paper uses 24; Non-Verbal Reasoning has 24 questions, and each paper uses 18; Quantitative Reasoning has 32 questions, and each paper uses 24; Spatial Reasoning has 24 questions, and each paper uses 18. A second sitting will repeat some questions. We give your child the ones they haven't seen first.

Candidate Details

We ask for birth month and year (not a full date of birth) because the real test is age-standardised, so results are only meaningful when compared with children of the same age in months.

  1. 01Paper 1 (Verbal Reasoning): 24 questions, 20 minutes, multiple choice.
  2. 02Paper 2 (Non-Verbal Reasoning): 18 questions, 18 minutes, multiple choice with diagrams.
  3. 03Paper 3 (Quantitative Reasoning): 24 questions, 25 minutes, multiple choice.
  4. 04Paper 4 (Spatial Reasoning): 18 questions, 18 minutes, multiple choice with diagrams.
  5. 05Each paper is timed strictly and cannot be paused once started.
  6. 06Full marking and topic-by-topic feedback follows once every paper is complete.

You'll be asked to sign in first. That's what keeps your child's results private and available on your other devices.

Unofficial practice resource inspired by publicly available information from The Camden School for Girls’ own admissions pages (GL Assessment sets and marks a Year 7 banding test of four subtests covering Verbal, Non-Verbal, Quantitative and Spatial Reasoning, completed in one half-day session, placing each child into one of four ability bands). Not affiliated with or endorsed by The Camden School for Girls, Camden Council or GL Assessment. This is a BANDING test, not a pass/fail exam: the school states plainly that the band a child is placed in has no bearing on her likelihood of an offer, and GL Assessment sets each year's band thresholds from that year's whole applicant cohort, which no practice resource can predict in advance. TWO FURTHER LIMITS, stated plainly: Camden does not publish a question count or timing for each subtest the way Wandsworth's council does, so the paper lengths and minutes here are this app's own invented estimate for a stratified practice draw, not GL Assessment's real structure. And Spatial Reasoning here reuses the same flat 2D shape-rotation engine built for Non-Verbal Reasoning. Real GL Spatial Reasoning content (nets, rotation of solid shapes, views from different angles) is not something this app can render yet.
